Key Qualifications
The main experience of T.Strozzi is in the development of applications of active microwave data. His research included field experiments (ground-based scatterometry, combined ground information), processing, analyses and interpretation of space-borne data, as well as the development and use of theoretical and empirical scattering models for snow, soil and vegetation. Currently he is very active in SAR interferometric data processing and the development of applications of single-pass as well as repeat- pass SAR interferometry for topographic mapping, differential motion, land-use classification, and the retrieval of geophysical and biophysical parameters over land (e.g. forestry, agricultural, and hydrological applications).

 

Professional Education
1993 Diploma (M.S.) in Physics from the University of Bern, Switzerland, for a thesis on "Network-analayzer based scatterometers at 2.6 and 35 GHz for calibrated measurements of snow and vegetaion".
1996 Ph.D. in Science from the University of Bern, Switzerland, for a thesis on "Backscattering measurements of snowcovers at 5.3 and 35 GHz".

 

Employment Record
1996 up to present Research scientist of GAMMA Remote Sensing Research and Consulting Ltd. Main tasks are the development of remote sensing applications based on active microwave data.
1999-2001 Part-time visiting scientist at the University of Wales, Swansea, UK. Main task was the analysis of surge-type glaciers in Svalbard and Greenland with differential SAR interferometry and offset-tracking procedures.
1996-1998 Part-time physics teacher at the Highschool of Bellinzona, Switzerland.
1991 - 1996 Research in microwave remote sensing with the Institute of Applied physics of the University of Bern: Experimental backscatter studies of natural targets, in particular snow. Modeling of the interaction of microwaves with natural targets. In addition he was responsible for engineering tasks such as the design, construction, calibration and maintenance of ground-based polarimetric scatterometers.
