Key Qualifications

The main experience of P. Kourkouli concerns Earth observation applications using satellite-based data (SAR and optical). Currently, she is very active on SAR Interferometric data processing using both DInSAR/PSI techniques and their applications for mainly ground-motion monitoring.



Professional Education

2011-2015 Registered for a PhD degree at Leicester University (UK).

2010 Master of Science (Msc) in Geoinformatics from the National and Technical University of Athens (Greece) for a thesis on “ Persistent Scatterers Interferometry for monitoring ground deformation over Mornos delta (Greece) ”.

2008 Bachelor of Science in Geography from the Harokopio University of Athens (Greece) for a thesis on “Average coherence image-derived observations over an urban area: a case study of Athens”.



Employment Record

2011-2014 Early Stage Researcher of GAMMA Remote Sensing Research and Consulting in the frame of Marie Curie People Actions under the European Seventh Framework Programme (GIONET project). Main task is DINSAR/PSI hybrid methodologies for ground-motion monitoring.

2007-2010 Research scientist at the Harokopio University of Athens (Greece) and occasionally a lab assistant (Remote Sensing and GIS courses). Research on Earth observation applications using satellite-based data. Participated in projects focused on SAR Interferometric techniques and their applications for ground deformation monitoring. Land cover mapping using Remote Sensing and GIS.

2006-2007 Practice in the Institute of Environmental Research and Sustainable Development (IERSD), Athens (Greece ) for monitoring climate changes using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) .
